Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial
Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial was established to commemorate those who participated in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, as well as to recognize the enduring peace among Great Britain, Canada, and the United States. The Memorial features a Doric column standing 352 feet above Lake Erie and is located five miles from the world's longest undefended border. Perry's Cave
Located 52 feet beneath the surface of South Bass Island in Lake Erie, the cave was discovered in 1813 and is attributed to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, noted for his role in the Battle of Lake Erie. The cave measures 208 feet in length and 165 feet in width. The temperature remains steady at 50 degrees year-round.
Heineman’s Winery
Heineman's Winery, established in 1888 by Gustav Heineman from Baden, Germany, benefited from the Lake Erie Islands' ideal soil and extended growing season, which were already known for producing quality grapes. An island favorite!
South Bass Island State Park
Located on the white cliffs of South Bass Island, the park provides an area for visitors to observe nature and views of Lake Erie. Swimming, picnicking, and fishing are available on the stone beach, and fishing is permitted from the large boat dock. There are several parks, trails, and preserves all over the island. Each with their own beauty and story to tell.
Aquatic Visitors Center
The Aquatic Visitors Center on Put-in-Bay showcases information about Lake Erie and its islands. It features educational exhibits, interactive activities, and a fishing pier, providing opportunities for learning and recreation for visitors of all ages.
Saunders Golf Course
This course has a par 3, nine-hole layout. It offers an outdoor option for groups before exploring the vast amount of entertainment options on the island. The course is located next to South Bass Island State Park.
